The American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education is sponsoring this one year fellowship. It is supported by a grant from Janssen Pharmaceutica. The program seeks to identify promising PGY-1, PGY-2, and PGY-3 psychiatric residents with the potential to become leaders in clinical and health services research in all areas of psychiatric research. Emphasis will be placed on special mentoring and career enrichment programs both at the APA Annual Meeting and throughout the year. An individual research mentor chosen by the applicant will be assigned to oversee the resident's fellowship. The mentor will advise and encourage the Scholar during the one-year fellowship. The scholar will receive $2,500 during the fellowship, to assist in their research career development (e.g., for use in developing a pilot research project, obtaining statistical consultation, or visiting potential research training programs). The program also provides funding for travel to the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Annual Meeting during the fellowship. The annual deadline for applications is January 15. Applicants must be citizens of the U.S. or Canada.
The American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education/Janssen Resident Psychiatric Research Scholars program is administered by the American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education. An advisory committee of senior research psychiatrists will assist in the evaluation and selection of the Scholars.
